About MBBS Course
MBBS is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. It is composed of 2 words, M.B. – ‘Medicinae Baccalaureus’ Bachelor of Medicine (in Latin) and B.S – ‘Bachelor of Surgery’ (in English), are the two first-professional degrees in medicine and surgery awarded upon graduation from medical school by universities in countries that follow the tradition of the United Kingdom[UK]. The duration of the course is split into 9 semesters followed by one year of internship/ live training.
It is an undergraduate academic degree course having a syllabus including both medicine and surgery subjects. The course aims to enlighten students on both surgical methodology and medicine study which can be further split into 2 various streams of study depending upon the master’s course they’re willing to apply.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Students have to fulfil some criteria for getting admission to this course, and NEET UG medical entrance is the most accepted by almost all the medical colleges in India. There are national level and university level entrance for the MBBS admissions. MBBS job is abundant in both private and public sectors and provides the candidate with a wide range of opportunities to pursue higher studies abroad or in India
To obtain MBBS admission the criteria is that a candidate should have scored more than 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology aggregate in their 10+2, 12th grade. To get medical school entry, there will be no state-level exam conducted for admission in MBBS & BDS courses from the year 2017 and all the state-level medical entrance tests have been merged into NEET examination (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) which is one of the most sought national level examination conducted .
AIIMS is a medical entrance examination conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. With this exam, the candidate is given admission to the UG medical courses. Also, the ones who want to pursue MBBS course from the institutions of AIIMS can apply for this exam.
Jawaharlal Institute Postgraduate Medical Education & Research [JIMPER] regulates the medical entrance examination for the admission in MBBS program and students can get admission in JIPMER, Puducherry & JIPMER, Karaikal campuses through this exam.
University-level medical entrance exams are JIPMER, St. John’s Medical Entrance Test, CMC Vellore MBBS/BDS Admissions, Delhi University MBBS/BDS Admissions [DU MBBS], etc. A basic requirement for applying medical entrance tests is that the student should be at least 17 years old minimum. Typically, written tests have questions from physics, chemistry, and biology (botany and zoology). In general, the mix of questions is such that the focus on biology, which is a combination of zoology and botany, is as much as that on physics and chemistry together.
